Believe it or not, I found this piano weathering the elements in open air! It was in front of a little Ft. Worth iconical food and beverage establishment called "Fred's Texas". The sign above the piano was just as you see it now.
It was originally shot on medium format film, and hi-resolution scans were made from the negative.
I was drawn to the rustic texture and sharp detail. Perhaps you too (and all who see yours) will be pulled in for a long gaze. I don't think there was any intentionality at all in the positioning of the sign in relation to the piano, but that juxtaposition spoke to me in the form of this little verse I wrote: (copyright Jon Holiday 2003)
The instrument may tarnish,
The keys and strings may fail,
The song will even stop now and then.
But the notes remain...
Music is forever.
This image is also available as signed and numbered piece that I call "Rustique." The one you see here is a 12" x 16" which fits a standard size frame available in any hobby or frame shop. It's part of my VALUE SERIES, which means that it is professionally printed on archival photographic paper, but it is "poster style", so it is not signed or numbered, but is ready to frame. I'm able to do these for just $14! If you really want though, I can do a signed and numbered version for you (without the verse, just the image)...for extra money of course. Just contact me in that case.
